Equinix Data Centre SYD 4 - Stage 1

Barnwell Cambridge was engaged as the head electrical contractor to complete Phase 1, Stage 1 of Equinix Australia’s newest and largest Green Fields data centre, SY4.

Equinix is the world's biggest IBX data centre and colocation provider and this facility is now the largest of the 150 Equinix sites worldwide.

Within the new Building’s Administration area, there are “state of the art” client Meeting Rooms, amenities and workspaces containing architectural lighting, audio visual and security. The colocations Data Halls have a usable floor space of 12,500 Sqm and full capacity of 3000 Cabinets in total, over 2 levels.

The level of monitoring and control of the facility is exceptional with an internal local command centre (LOCC). The LOCC provides facility engineers with real time status of all electrical and mechanical plant including lighting control. The lighting within this facility is controlled by a complete customised Dali lighting control system including the emergency light monitoring. Within colocations there are over 1500 light fittings all with the ability and flexibility to provide induvial lighting control per cage and check status of all sensors and emergency lights on a daily bases. All technical spaces have bespoke and customised Blue Led lighting to comply with the Equinix Global standards themes.

As the head electrical contractor Barnwell Cambridge was responsible for the installation, coordination and commissioning of electrical services including High Voltage, general electrical plant and cabling, lightning protection and earthing, security cabling, MATV and A.V, lighting control, customised switchboard stands and cable support brackets, in ground Telco and electrical conduits and reticulation, Facility Controls and Monitoring Cabling and structured communications cabling.
